PIT RESCHEDLUE NOTICE
The full 2026 PIT Count (Sheltered, Unsheltered, & Service-Based) has been rescheduled for Wednesday, 2/25/26, and Thursday, 2/26/26.
No parts of the PIT Count will take place this week on 1/28/26 or 1/29/26.
County Leads will be reaching out to all volunteers in the coming weeks to determine availability and assignments for the rescheduled dates (2/25/26 & 2/26/26). They will also be communicating with all participating providers/partners/sites for planning around the new dates. If you have any questions, please reach out to your County Lead:

2026 Point-In-Time (PIT) Count
On a single night each year the Delaware Continuum of Care conducts a Point in Time (PIT) count of people experiencing homelessness, with the assistance of community volunteers and partners. On the same night, a census of available homeless-dedicated temporary and permanent housing resources is undertaken, called the Housing Inventory Count (HIC). Together, these data points provide information about the need facing Delaware’s homeless response system and the supply of available shelter and housing options.
2026 PIT Count Methodology
The DE CoC is required by HUD to submit the methodology used to collect the PIT Count data in order to ensure the data collected is valid and reliable. The methodology used is influenced by both geographic and demographic characteristics as well as overall resources and capacity. The 2026 PIT Count Methodology was officially approved by the DE CoC Board on 12/31/2025.
Volunteer Opportunities
The deadline to sign-up to volunteer is Wednesday, 1/21/26, and all final volunteer assignments will be sent out on Friday, 1/23/26. If you need to make any changes to your volunteer assignment, please reach out to your county leads immediately.
